Former Actress Best Known For Playing Maids In TVB Period Dramas Now Sells Chicken Feet In China

Her name might not ring a bell, but if you’re a fan of TVB dramas, you would probably be able to recognise Casper Chan Sze Tsai, 43.
The former actress, who got her start in showbiz after participating in the 2000 Miss Hong Kong Pageant, is best known for playing maids in TVB period dramas. Her most recognisable role is that of royal servant Mudan in long-running sitcom Virtues of Harmony.
After years of playing supporting roles, Casper found herself struggling to secure new opportunities as she got older.
She decided to leave showbiz in 2015 and switched careers to work as a holistic therapist. Her last drama was 2015's Beyond The Rainbow.
Casper recently posted a video on Xiaohongshu announcing her new gig.
She revealed that she has joined ex-TVB actor Vin Choi's chicken feet business and has set up a stall in Foshan, Guangdong province.
Displayed at the stall was a banner that read: "A has-been artiste's new job."
Though she's been warned that hawker life is "tough", and that "many people will laugh at you", she is not worried, declaring: "I want to be the queen of chicken feet. I am going to bounce back."
Her determination has earned praise from netizens, with comments such as: "As long as she's happy doing what she's doing now."
Others admired her courage to leave the entertainment industry behind: “I really respect these Hong Kong stars. They have the courage to [chase their dreams], but are also able to let go when the time comes.”
