Super Junior’s Shindong Loses 37kg in 5 Months After Doctor Warned Him About His Health
He went from 116kg to 79kg.
Super Junior member Shindong, 40, has been steadily working on his fitness journey over the past few years, but his latest Instagram update has left fans doing a double take.
Decked out head-to-toe in hockey gear, the idol shared a series of photos alongside the caption: “At first, I just wanted to try it out. But before I knew it, I had customised a full set of equipment. It’s really so much fun — sports really do benefit from having the right gear!”
While Shindong was clearly excited about his new hockey hobby, fans were far more distracted by just how different he looked.
Many netizens pointed out his dramatically slimmer frame, with some saying they barely recognised him.
According to Korean media reports, Shindong reportedly dropped from 116kg to 79kg in just five months — a staggering 37kg weight loss that quickly became a trending topic online.
“He instantly looks 10 years younger,” one netizen commented, while another declared: “Weight loss really is the best cosmetic surgery!”
Of course, longtime fans were quick to note that this isn’t Shindong’s first major transformation. Some pointed out that he has undergone several dramatic weight-loss journeys over the years, only to later regain the weight.
During a 2020 talk show appearance, Shindong revealed that doctors had once given him a stark warning about the toll his weight was taking on his health.
“The doctor said that if I didn’t lose weight now, I could die when I turned 40,” he shared.
Now that he has officially hit that milestone, it seems the warning stayed with him.
Determined to prioritise his health, Shindong has reportedly made major lifestyle changes in recent years — from eating and sleeping on a proper schedule to maintaining healthier daily habits and cutting back on alcohol.
