Taiwanese host Pauline Lan Hsin-Mei has opened up about a deeply personal chapter of her life, revealing that she is not her mother’s biological child.

In a video shared on the Facebook page of Lady First ahead of Mother’s Day, the 60-year-old star paid tribute to Mama Lan and recounted how her mum took her in when she was just 13 or 14, a time she described as the most rebellious period of her life.

Despite being only 18 years older than her, her mum stepped in with both strict discipline and immense patience, raising her as her own.

Hsin-Mei credited her mum for shaping who she is today, from her quick thinking and sharp mind to her strong physical health, adding that her mum’s loving home-cooked meals played a big part in her upbringing.

Though her mum is now getting older and has difficulty walking, Hsin-Mei shared that she hopes to continue travelling the world with her.

She ended the video with an emotional message: “Even if we’ve seen the whole world, mum, you should know — my world is only you. Love you.”

Her mum was just in her early 30s when she took Hsin-Mei in.
