"It’s Good To Be Handsome": Cha Eun Woo Returns To Spotlight After Tax Scandal

South Korean star Cha Eun Woo has made his first public appearance since his tax evasion scandal, and, unsurprisingly, the internet has plenty to say.

The 29-year-old singer-actor, who enlisted in the military last July and is currently serving in the Ministry of National Defense’s military band, was recently spotted performing at an official event.

Photos and clips circulating online show him dressed in formal attire, delivering a salute in front of a military orchestra.

In a viral video, Eun Woo is also seen singing g.o.d’s classic track ‘One Candle’.

Naturally, his heartthrob-worthy looks didn’t go unnoticed. While some fans noted that he looked slightly worn out, many still gushed over his appearance, with comments like, “He still looks so handsome.”

But beyond the praise, reactions remain divided.

The appearance comes months after Eun Woo was embroiled in tax evasion allegations involving up to 20 billion won (around S$17.23mil).

Following the backlash, some of his military broadcast appearances were reportedly set to private, and questions were raised about whether he should continue serving in the military band.

Eun Woo has since apologised and confirmed that he has paid all outstanding taxes.

In an earlier statement, Eun Woo also addressed scrutiny surrounding a company he had set up, admitting he “was not thinking it through” at the time and taking full responsibility for the matter.

While some fans have continued to show support, others remain sceptical, with critics questioning how such a large sum could have been overlooked in the first place.  

Eun Woo is expected to be discharged from the military in January 2027.

His upcoming projects remain on track, including Netflix drama The Wonderfools, slated for release on May 15.

While some netizens joked that “it’s good to be handsome,” others are not ready to move on just yet, calling for are boycott of his work.
