Chinese comedian and actress Jia Ling, 41, has been super low-key in the past year-and-a-half. The plus-sized star recently revealed that she was losing weight for an upcoming role during her hiatus.
In 2021, Jia Ling’s starred in her directorial debut Hi, Mom (你好, 李焕英). The film was a massive box office hit — it made S$1.12bil — and is the third most-watched movie in China.
In 2023, she announced that she was working on her second film Re La Gun Tang (热辣滚烫), which she will both direct and star in.
Images from the movie were recently released, and Jia Ling looks almost unrecognisable in them.
According to Jia Ling, she lost 50kg in six months to play a boxer.
According to reports, Jia Ling underwent a strict strength training regimen, and now has visibly toned arms and abs as proof of her hard work.
To lose 50kg in the short span of six months is an impressive feat, to say the least.To put it into perspective, that’s the weight of an adult.
While we’re not sure if it’s really possible to lose that much weight in six months through training alone, we’ve got to hand it to Jia Ling for all the effort she has put in for her film.
