Ex-Best Friend Of Du Meizhu Claims That The Influencer Accused Kris Wu Of Sex Crimes For Money; Says She Will Testify Against Meizhu In Court
If you thought disgraced Chinese star Kris Wu's sex scandal had finally come to an end (like his career) after the star was found guilty of rape and sentenced to 13 years in jail last November, think again.
According to reports, the 32-year-old singer has appealed for a second trial. This time, he found a witness who will testify against influencer Du Meizhu, 20, who accused him of date-raping her when she was 17.
Yesterday (Feb 27), Chinese influencer Li En, who claims that she used to be Meizhu's best friend, took to Weibo to share that she had contacted Kris' lawyer, and would "personally testify in court as a witness to confront Miss Du" during the second trial.
"I think directly confronting her would be more effective," she reasoned.
In her lengthy post, Li En averred that Meizhu's original intention was to "get a sum of money" but she "shouldn't have made use of other people’s sympathy to cover up her misdeeds."
"[She] Made herself the victim by using a fake underage identity, and then she used the 500K yuan (S$100K) from [Kris] to go for plastic surgery. She even used her post-surgery photos to pretend that she's a pitiful person who's undergone Electroconvulsive therapy, she constantly uses an 'innocent-girl persona' to make her accusations more believable."
Li En said that after Meizhu and Kris had sex, the former flaunted the fact that she was “dating Kris Wu” to another best friend, Liu Mei Li, the next day. Yet six months later, Meizhu suddenly claimed that she had been coerced at the time.
That then led Li En to question: "That day when [she] went drinking with Mr Wu, her friends all tried to pull her away, why didn't she leave with any of them? Instead she chose to go into someone else's room to pretend that she's drunk.... Why did she say that she was just trying to get revenge at a jerk for dumping her when she came to me for help initially?"
To end off the post, Li En asserted that she's decided to testify in court "not only for herself, but also for [the good of] society."
"This is also to make sure that there will no longer be vicious scammers like Miss Du who thinks that the Internet is their ticket to overnight fame," she claimed, adding that: "Mr Wu has to be responsible for his mistakes, but Miss Du you better not think you can get away with it."
Interestingly, when Meizhu first accused Kris of sexually assaulting her back in 2021, Li En, who was still friends with Meizhu at that time, had openly showed support for her then-bestie on Weibo. However, the two eventually fell out, leading Li En to declare that Meizhu is "not a good person".
So what does Meizhu have to say about her former bestie's accusations?
In a post on Weibo, Meizhu wrote: "To my former "friends", I hope you can still sleep well after taking the dirty money and defaming me online."
"My values and upbringing have taught me to treat everyone sincerely, but based on experience, not everyone deserves to be treated wholeheartedly," she snarked.
