Is This China’s Most Beautiful Bodyguard?
Known by her alias Yan Yuexia, she is trained in Shaolin martial arts. Yes, that legendary martial arts school.
A Chinese female bodyguard assigned to protect French First Lady Brigitte Macron during the Macrons’ official visit to China in early December has gone viral for her intense focus and no-nonsense presence.
Known as Yan Yuexia, she is often called “China’s most beautiful bodyguard” and was born into a martial arts family in Luoyang.
Training since she was six, she later received formal kung fu training at Shaolin Temple.
Yes, that legendary temple.
Yuexia then joined China’s Ministry of Public Security in 2015, where she was tasked to protect top Chinese officials and foreign leaders during high-level visits.
Her first big viral moment came in 2023 when she guarded Asma al-Assad, the wife of Syria’s former president, during their visit to China.
Then, netizens were fixated on Yuexia’s stone-cold expression.
Earlier this year, she was again caught on camera protecting Thailand’s then-prime minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, even going viral for the veins in her neck popping as she watched over the Paetongtarn during an ice hockey match in Harbin.
Paetongtarn even publicly thanked Yuexia for her care and professionalism.
Though she has never granted an interview, netizens found out that she received an honourable award from the central government in 2020.
“She is a rose with thorns,” one online observer remarked, while another wrote: “She is more powerful than any female agent in films”.
