Uncle Of Jessica Hsuan Draws Flak For Flaunting Wife's Fur Coat Collection

Everyone knows how much Jessisa Hsuan loves animals.

After the devastating Tai Po fire that broke out on Nov 26, the 55-year-old even offered temporary shelter for displaced pets belonging to affected families.

But what about her uncle, veteran Hong Kong producer Robert Chua?

Recently, the 79-year-old sparked controversy with an Instagram post that stood in stark contrast to Jessica’s stance on animal protection.

In his post, Robert, known as the "Father of [Hong Kong variety show] Enjoy Yourself Tonight", shared a series of photos showcasing the fur coat collection of his wife, Peggy, a former TVB executive.

Hanging across several drying racks, apparently set up in the garden of their luxury home, the furs vary in style and come in shades of dark brown, silver-grey, and golden tan.

Some pieces even show intact animal heads and paws — a sight that is, honestly, both shocking and heartbreaking.

Peggy was also smiling as she sorted through the furs one by one, seemingly brimming with pride at her collection.

"I can see Peggy talking happily to Rose our Helper as they air her collection of old collar fox and mink fur that were collected over the last few decades! After airing she will select a few to give away to our good friends," wrote Robert.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out how netizens reacted.

Although Robert explained that the pieces were his wife’s old furs collected over the decades and that she planned to give some to friends, the large, showy display of animal pelts still drew criticism from netizens who called it cruel.

Reports also noted that while some fur products on the market claim to be made without killing animals, many pelts still come from farmed animals.

Even so-called “humane fur” has been exposed by foreign media as coming from fur farms with poor conditions, effectively constituting abuse.

The incident immediately reminded netizens of Jessica, with many pointing out how the two hold starkly opposite attitudes toward animals despite being relatives.

Some also hoped Jessica would advise her relatives against their habits, noting that “wearing old fur doesn’t mean it’s not cruel”, and that such items “should not be worn or gifted anymore as reducing promotion is the best approach.”

She has so many.
From the look on her face you can tell how much she loves her coats
But this is just too painful to watch
We wonder how Jessica feels if she sees those pics her uncle posted
