Taiwanese Actor Couldn't Buy BTS Tickets For Daughter 'Cos He Couldn't Answer Trivia Questions As Part Of Ticket-Buying Process

Given how rampant scalping has become, it makes sense for concert organisers to tighten measures to weed out fake fans and bots.

But sometimes, that makes it really hard for parents trying to get tickets for their kids.

Just look at how exasperated Taiwanese actor Wang Shih-hsien was after trying to get BTS concert tickets for his daughter.

In a recent interview, the 58-year-old actor, who has two daughters — one 22 years old and another in her teens — was asked if he'd be taking them to BTS's Taipei concert on November 19-22 this year.

“Yes... We’ll watch it on TV,” he deadpanned, before elaborating on the ticket buying process, which included questions he had to answer in order to buy the tickets.

“[The quiz] even asked about their songs, when the concert is taking place, what is going to happen,” Shih-hsien said, referring to the trivia quizzes organisers set before ticket buyers are allowed to make the purchase.

"There were a bunch of rules. It really is so difficult to get tickets. After clicking in, there were so many questions asked," he continued to complain.

"How would I know when they debuted, what songs they sang, who wrote the songs or which album did this particular song belong to? I'm just a 'ticket-buying service' [for my daughter]. I'm not familiar with them at all," laughed Shih-hsien.

Such quizzes have become more common, and are used to combat bots, prioritise genuine fans, and sometimes even serve as promotional campaigns. Prominent examples include K-pop fan quizzes for priority ticketing — such as those for NCT Dream and Seventeen — as well as app-based trivia contests offering free tickets.

However, these measures vary across different countries and concert organisers, and may not apply to all of BTS' world tour stops.

When asked if he’s since gotten to know the K-pop group better after having gone through the process, the actor admitted he still only knows the basics about them.

"I only know a little, I'm still at entry level," he mused.

He definitely wouldn't have time to Google the answers too
But it's understandable, given how sought-after they are.
