Angelababy's 37th Birthday Party Attended Mostly By Influencers; No A-List Celebs In Sight

Chinese actress Angelababy used to go big for her birthday celebrations, with countless celebrity friends, including stars such as Yang Mi and Ni Ni, all attending her annual soirees. 

Well, it seems her recent 37th birthday party guestlist looked a little different.

Photos circulating on Xiaohongshu show that Angelababy’s 37th birthday bash looked more like an intimate gathering, with most of the guests appearing to be influencers rather than the usual roster of A-list celebrities.

In the group photo, there was still at least one celeb, Hong Kong actress Karena Ng, who stood beside her.

The two previously debuted as models in Hong Kong and were once nicknamed the “Twin Beauties of Hong Kong’s modelling scene” due to their similar looks and seem to have remained close friends.

Unsurprisingly, the photos sparked plenty of online chatter.

“How the mighty has fallen,” read one comment, while another remarked, “That’s the reality of the entertainment industry.”

Others, however, were quick to defend the actress.

They pointed out that Angelababy has already experienced the peak of top-tier fame, and that shifting her focus toward livestreaming and exploring other opportunities could simply be her way of carving out a more flexible career.

One even fiercely replied to a troll who sneered at how ex-husband, Chinese actor Huang Xiaoming wasn't in attendance.

“At least she still has friends celebrating her birthday," hit back the fan.

Angelababy and Xiaoming divorced in January 2022 after a seven-year marriage, announcing they would co-parent their son, nicknamed Little Sponge.

Though usually seen separately with Little Sponge, there was at least one instance where they were seen together during an outing to Shanghai Disneyland.

If the Back for You actress was bothered by the online chatter, she certainly didn’t show it.

Angelababy appeared in high spirits at the party, which reportedly had a playful theme, “Cosplay Angelababy”.

Guests showed up dressed as different eras of the actress from various stages of her career, essentially turning the celebration into a walking tribute to her own pop-culture history.

At one point, guests recreated the famous nametag-ripping game from Keep Running.

Angelababy was a regular cast member from 2014 to 2023 before stepping away from the show following controversy over her reported attendance at a performance by Blackpink’s Lisa at the Crazy Horse Paris cabaret.
