Daughter Of Benz Hui Sparks Marriage Trouble Rumours After Dodging Questions About S’porean Hubby
Just two years after her star-studded wedding to her Singaporean banker husband, Charmaine Hui kept things vague when pressed about her marital status.
Is there trouble brewing in the marriage of Charmaine Hui, daughter of the late Hong Kong actor Benz Hui, and her Singaporean banker husband, Shane Sim?
Hong Kong media seem to think so after Charmaine, 28, who recently signed with artiste management company Chessman HK as a professional host, sidestepped questions about her marriage.
Earlier this week, Chessman, founded by Hong Kong TV and radio personality Bob Lam, held a press conference to officially introduce its new artistes.
During the event, the conversation somehow drifted to dating and ideal partners. While two of the single female artistes joked about getting Bob — nicknamed the “gold medal matchmaker” — to introduce them to suitable men, Charmaine unexpectedly chimed in and even shared her own criteria for a partner.
That immediately raised eyebrows.
After all, Charmaine and Shane tied the knot in December 2023. The pair met through mutual friends when she was 18 and dated for six years before he proposed in September 2021.
Dubbed an “academic overlord” by Hong Kong media, Shane holds a Master’s degree from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, as well as a double degree in Business Administration and Industrial Engineering.
Their star-studded wedding made headlines at the time, with Benz reportedly gifting the couple a Singapore property worth around HK$23mil (S$3.75mil).
So when reporters later asked about her marital status, all ears were on her.
Charmaine, however, kept things vague. Instead of addressing the question directly, she said: “At this stage, work is my priority,” and added that she hopes everyone will focus on her career.
She also laughed off her earlier comments, saying she was just going along with the atmosphere.
Bob quickly stepped in to steer the conversation back to work, revealing that Charmaine will soon be hosting a concert press conference and asking the media to support her new career path instead.
Charmaine previously ran two cafes, Cafe Bakeholic and Juju, in Singapore but gave them up in 2025 to return to Hong Kong.
She had begun filming videos and creating online content with her father before his passing, and is now hoping to carve out a name for herself as a host.
