Taiwanese Singer Angela Chang Slammed For Pitchy Performance At New Year’s Eve Concert

Would a backing track have helped the 41-year-old singer?

Taiwanese Singer Angela Chang Slammed For Pitchy Performance At New Year’s Eve Concert

Since China banned lip-syncing in 2021 and the recent fiasco surrounding Mayday's alleged lip-syncing at their Shanghai concert, we are guessing everyone is hell-bent on proving they are singing live

...But not everyone, yes, even established names, can do that well.

At Oriental Satellite TV’s New Year Eve’s concert, Taiwanese singer Angela Chang, 41, took to the stage to perform two of her hit songs, ‘Flower in the Wonderland’ and ‘See the Farthest Place’.

However, the singer decided to try out a different musical take on the tunes and could be heard straining to sing louder than the accompanying music.

Angela's performance at the New Year Eve's concert drew mixed reviews.

Angela’s performance quickly garnered mostly negative reviews from netizens with many tearing the quality of her singing apart.

“Her voice sounded pitchy and unbearable,” wrote an irate viewer, while another posted, “I’m going to support lip-synching after this.”

However, some of her fans think the haters are just exaggerating, even though they admitted that this wasn’t the best performance from Angela.

“I still think she gave a very stable and resounding live performance,” wrote one defensively.

“The biggest problem isn’t her voice but the stage acoustics that caused her voice to sound distorted,” another argued.
