Wife Of HK Actor Ai Wai Dies Before Liver Transplant At Age 61
Ai Wai recently made a public appeal for a living liver donor but his wife’s condition worsened due to a bacterial infection.

The wife of Hong Kong actor Ai Wai, Lisa Chan, who had long been battling severe liver disease, passed away on May 18 at the age of 61.
Her condition took a drastic turn for the worse two months ago, leading to severe jaundice and swelling.
She was placed on the liver transplant list, but there were no suitable donors.
This prompted Ai Wai, 66, to make a public appeal on Facebook for a living liver donor earlier this month.
More than 10 donors with matching blood type responded, but Lisa’s condition worsened due to a sudden bacterial infection.
Hoping to lift her spirits, Ai Wai asked fellow actor Michael Miu to help reach out to her idol, movie legend Chow Yun Fat, who visited Lisa in hospital.
The star promised to go jogging and enjoy pineapple buns with her once she recovers.
Sadly, she succumbed to her illness on May 18.
In 2015, Lisa underwent surgery to remove a massive 6.35kg uterine tumour.
At that time, Ai Wai had already left TVB and was planning to join HKTV, but when HKTV failed to secure a broadcast license, he was left jobless.
Despite this, he used his entire savings on Lisa’s medical treatment. She underwent three surgeries, costing over HK$1 million (S$166.5K).
In 2020, Ai Wai shocked the Hong Kong entertainment industry when he announced that they had divorced after 18 years of marriage.
They had split due to Lisa's mahjong addiction.
They later reconciled during their appearance on Chinese reality show See You Again 2 in 2022.
