M'sian DJ Voluntarily Picks Up Trash During JJ Lin's Concert In KL; Goes Viral For All The Right Reasons

A man from Malaysia has earned plenty of compliments online for one small, but very thoughtful act at JJ Lin's concert, which happened last weekend (May 10) at Kuala Lumpur's National Stadium.
Malaysian singer Aaron Bosco spotted a concert-goer walking around during the concert to pick up trash as JJ was performing on stage, and uploaded a clip of it on Xiaohongshu.
"Halfway through the concert, a colleague suddenly disappeared. Turns out he had started picking up trash from the ground," Aaron wrote.
It was later revealed that the man is actually Der Ting, a jock with Malaysia's Chinese radio station MY FM, and that he was clearing up plastic raincoats that were tossed away by other concert-goers.
"My colleague secretly took the video and uploaded it without telling me or tagging me. I only found out when netizens started sending it to me," Der Ting shared in an interview with WeirdKaya.
He noted that while he initially did not spot anyone else picking up the trash, others began pitching in after noticing his actions.
He also told the Malaysian news site that he "didn't lose out on the concert experience, [and had simply] cleaned up during pauses between songs". He added that the clean up only took around 15 minutes.
Der Ting later posted an IG video talking about the now-viral clip.
"I saw many people littering at the venue and I really didn't feel good about it. I thought to myself, 'What if someone trips and falls because of it?'. Because the ground was really wet that day," he said.
"I also thought the litter might leave a bad impression on those [who've come] from overseas. We always praise the Japanese for their high calibre, but why can't we do the same?" he continued.
Der Ting believes that although there may be a lot of people who litter, it just takes one person who is willing to pick it up to influence others to help out as well.
Many agreed with his take, with one netizen even saying they were "moved to tears" by how inspiring he was.
Now that's someone who totally deserves to go viral.
