Ex-Hotel Cook Who ‘Can’t Tahan’ Taking Orders Now Sells Granny’s Chicken Curry As Hawker At 1126 China Town
He once told his hotel supervisor, “You don’t need to fire me, I quit.” Now his own boss, the 33-year-old admits it’s even tougher.
Simon Goh, 33, is the first to admit that he has never been great at taking orders from his superiors at work. After short stints cooking at two hotels and a couple of humbler F&B joints, he decided to become his own boss — as a hawker selling his granny’s chicken curry, and other homestyle dishes like rich chicken soup at a small stall at People’s Park Food Centre called 1126 China Town. The biz opened in November 2025.
He holds diplomas in culinary arts from Shatec Institute plus also business and law from Kaplan.
