Taking 73-year-old Bei-Ing Wanton Noodle hawker Yeo Song Khoon to the doctor for his back injury after he was forcefully shoved to the ground by a customer was no easy feat.

“It’s almost impossible to make him [rest and] stay home unless he’s admitted to the hospital. No matter how sick or injured he is, he’ll still insist on going to work,” his son, third-generation hawker Ray Yeo, tells 8days.sg.

True enough, the elderly man returned to his Roxy Square stall the day after the dispute, armed with little more than Panadol despite experiencing severe back pain. He even considered getting a TCM massage instead of undergoing a full medical examination initially.

But after the family, as his son Ray puts it, “forced him to see a doctor”, Mr Yeo finally agreed to visit the hospital on Sunday (Aug 16) evening. Meanwhile, the family announced that its Roxy Square mall stall would temporarily close until Thursday (Aug 20).
