What To Watch This Week: Nov 9-15, 2026
Li Nanxing and Jesseca Liu go dystopian with The Leftovers, while The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns for Season 3 — plus what else to stream this week.
For your consideration...
The Leftovers (Netflix, Nov 9; mewatch & Channel 8, from Nov 16)
Mediacorp’s latest blockbuster series — and its first dystopian crime thriller (don’t pray pray!) — is not to be confused with the HBO series of the same name. But both shows share similar end-of-the-world vibes. The story is set in 2037 on the fictional volcanic island of Equaland. There, an underground boxer (Zhang Zetong) tries to raise money for his mother’s (Jesseca Liu) surgery but gets entangled with a organ trafficking syndicate and a mad scientist (Li Nanxing) obsessed with artificial organs. The cast also includes Desmond Tan, Zoe Tay, Cheryl Chou, Jeremy Chan, and James Seah. This is the first of three 8-parters; the others will drop in 2027.
Style Wars (Disney+, Nov 11)
From the folks behind Single’s Inferno comes this new reality survival series that pits 72 fashionistas — from amateurs to pros — against one another as they showcase their creativity and styling prowess to a panel of experts, including Hong Jin-kyung, Jung Wook-jun, Bae-Jung-nam and Choi Hee-seung. Project Runway is so yesterday.
The Body (Netflix, Nov 11)
Thinking about sending your kids to a Catholic school? Watch this first. This eight-part coming-of-age series — from Emmy-nominated writer-director Quinn Shephard (Under the Bridge) — centres on a misbehaving group of Catholic schoolgirls following a dance-team initiation that goes horribly wrong. (Nothing good can happen when it involves drugs.) If you like The Craft, Mean Girls and Jennifer’s Body, this coven of chaos has your name written all over it.
Cunk on Cinema (Netflix, Nov 15)
Run to the hills! Philomena Cunk is back! Diane Morgan reprises her role as the perpetually misinformed investigative reporter (pretty sure Zaki Hussain is a big fan of hers). This time, she does a deep dive into the film industry. In this three-part series, expect questions no one dares to ask, like when she quizzes Benedict Cumberbatch about acting: “When you’re trying to get inside a character, which hole do you enter by, north or south?” Speechless.
12 12 12 (Apple TV, Nov 13)
In cinemas this week is How to Rob a Bank, a heist thriller from The Fall Guy director David Leitch. But if you really want to learn how to pull off a 10-65, then check out this eight-part series. Anthony Mackie plays an FBI agent in hot pursuit of a career criminal (Jamie Dornan) who plans to empty an impenetrable (right!) bank vault in Switzerland. The story unfolds over three timelines: 12 months of planning, the 12 hours of the heist, and the 12 days following it. So pay attention — there’ll be a test after this.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Season 3 (Prime Video, Nov 11)
The third season of the most expensive TV series in history (two more to go!) picks up five years after the fall of Eregion, with the free peoples of Middle-earth — dwarves, elves, men and wizards alike — ganging up to stop Sauron (Charlie Vickers) from developing his ultimate WMD: the One Ring to rule all of all! Will they succeed? Spoiler alert: They do…but not for long. But that’s another story for another time.
