Who Knew Wang Leehom & George Yeo Were Friends? Singer Attends Dinner Hosted By Ex S'pore Minister

Who knew former Singapore Minister for Foreign Affairs George Yeo and Taiwanese singer Wang Leehom were such good pals?

The two recently caught up over dinner in Singapore, with George, 72, sharing a group photo of their gathering on social media.

"Wang Leehom and Croatian friends," he captioned the post.

And it wasn't exactly an intimate dinner for two.

Judging from the photo, at least 15 people were present, with everyone looking to be in good spirits as they posed for a group shot.

Leehom, 50, later popped into the comments to personally thank George for hosting the gathering.

"Thank you George, for your warm hospitality, friendship, and generous wisdom," he wrote.

The singer also gave a special shout-out to George's wife, lawyer Jennifer Leong, and their other friends, describing it as a "lovely evening with everyone".

Now, here's something you might be wondering.

How did a former Singapore foreign minister and a Mandopop superstar become friends in the first place?

Well, as it turns out, the two go way back.

George, who now holds several management positions in the private sector, and Leehom have reportedly known each other for years.

In fact, they previously caught up in Taipei in 2023 during one of George's visits to Taiwan.

At the time, Leehom revealed to Taiwanese media that their friendship began through the annual Allen & Company Sun Valley Conference in the US, a gathering attended by prominent figures from the business, media and technology industries.

Talk about an unexpected friendship.

But catching up with old friends wasn't the only thing on Leehom's agenda during his latest visit to Singapore.

The singer has also been supporting local social service organisation Epworth Community Services, which works with children, youths and families.

In August this year, Leehom released a song titled 'Hope' in support of the organisation and its charitable initiatives.

And it seems his involvement didn't end there.

During his latest trip, Leehom met with the Epworth team again to discuss how he could continue supporting their work.

The organisation also shared photos of the meeting on Instagram, revealing that they had "discussed the children, youths and family service landscape in Singapore and how the community can come together to do our part".
