S’pore Woman, 28, On US Reality Show With 49-Yr-Old American BF Who’s Moving To SG To Be With Her
The couple, who have a 21-year age gap, are expecting a baby. But her parents don’t know she’s pregnant.
Singapore is getting some representation on US reality show 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way — and judging from the teasers, things are about to get pretty juicy.
The TLC series follows Americans who move abroad to be with their partners, and its upcoming eighth season features five new couples, including Singaporean Alimna, who goes by Ally, 28, and her 49-year-old American boyfriend Jonathan.
Yep, there’s a 21-year age gap between them. And they are expecting a baby.
Ally, who lives in Woodlands, is six months pregnant, while Jonathan, a self-described “nerdy scientist” from Groton, Connecticut, is moving to Singapore to be with her.
Jonathan is a divorced father who still lives with his ex-wife, and according to TLC, he has little money saved and no job lined up in Singapore.
There’s another hurdle facing the couple: Ally’s parents don’t know she’s pregnant.
So how did Ally and Jonathan get together in the first place?
“A couple years ago, I was single, having fun, partying almost every night,” recalled Ally in a teaser for the show.
“And then, one night, I met this really hot guy from America, and he was the best sex I’ve ever had in my entire life,” she said with a laugh.
And it seems his age is part of the appeal too, with Ally saying Jonathan gives off “daddy vibes”.
Okay, girl.
Ally was also the one who asked Jonathan out on a date.
Her reason? “I wanted a free meal,” she quipped. “Girl’s gotta eat.”
Jonathan seems equally amazed that the two ended up together.
“I don’t have what you’d call a typical job,” he said, explaining that he designs and manufactures sonar equipment, or “basically underwater listening devices”.
“So, yeah, I’m basically a nerdy, mad scientist who somehow landed a hot girlfriend on the other side of the world,” he joked.
