Shaun Chen’s Wife Fires Back At Hater Over New Home Post

Social media can be a strange place. One moment you're sharing a happy milestone, the next you're defending yourself against complete strangers who seem oddly invested in your life choices.

Malaysian beautician Celine Chin, aka the wife of Mediacorp actor Shaun Chen, 47, recently found herself on the receiving end of exactly that.

The 36-year-old took to Instagram Stories to call out a user who flooded her with hostile comments after she posted a May 24 video showing off the couple's newly collected home in Johor Bahru.

Among the remarks she highlighted was: “You’re a divorcé, please do not show off.”

The commenter didn't stop there.

“Shameless. Can you please spare a thought for your ex-wife and her family members?” the person continued.

For context, Shaun and Celine married in 2015 and are parents to two daughters, Nellie, nine, and Neia, seven. Prior to that, Shaun was married to former Mediacorp actress Michelle Chia from 2009 to 2011. Michelle has since moved on as well, marrying former actor-turned-realtor Jackson B Chen last August.

Still, the commenter appeared fixated on Shaun's past relationship, accusing Celine of “unintentionally showing that [she’s] happier” than his ex-wife and warning her not to “end up regretting it when happiness turns into tragedy.”

The messages eventually took an even stranger turn.

“Go and tell your God what your sins are because only you know how you’ve wronged me,” the person added.

Celine, however, wasn't about to let the accusations slide.

“Are you that unhappy and miserable with your life? Why is your heart filled with such filthy thoughts?” she fired back on Instagram Stories.

Reflecting on the incident, she said she has come to realise how fascinating — and baffling — some keyboard warriors can be.

“Because only those who are truly suffering will be so sensitive towards other people’s happiness,” she wrote.

To her, the post was simply about celebrating a new chapter in life.

After all, she was merely sharing that she and her family had collected the keys to their new home — what she described as a “totally normal part of life.”

“You can dislike the content, swipe away, or even block me. I never asked for others to be happy for me,” she wrote. “Life is tough enough already, and you still have to spend time attacking someone you don’t know. I really think you’re quite pitiful.”

Despite the negativity, Celine made it clear she has no intention of changing how she lives or what she shares online.

She ended her post with a message for both supporters and critics alike:

“To those who like me, thank you. To those who don’t, I also wish that your lives will get better soon.”

It's a huge milestone for the family, so why can't she post it?
