Qi Yuwu Admits He Doesn't Spend Too Much Time With His Two Kids: "I'd Feel Annoyed"
Loving your kids doesn’t mean having to give up your need for personal space.
In a resurfaced clip of Allan Wu's podcast, Call Us Daddy, local actor Qi Yuwu revealed that he doesn't actually "spend a lot of time" with his two children.
The 49-year-old actor has a daughter, 10, and a son, nine, with Mediacorp actress Joanne Peh, 42.
"I don't think parents need to be with their kids all day. I would feel annoyed. The children are annoying," he deadpanned.
He posited that his children would have their own things that they want to play with and their own activities to do.
"Just let them play by themselves. I feel like you need to give them space. Just like how I'm someone who needs my own space too," the actor said.
"I can't handle being with them all day and doing everything together. I cannot, I can't take it. I'm also not very good at playing with or getting along with children," he explained.
The truth is, having kids wasn’t on Yuwu’s bucket list in the first place.
"To be honest, I never thought I'd have kids. I never thought I would get married either, I thought I'd just end up alone," said Yuwu, adding that he's not someone who particularly likes children.
"Some people naturally love children, but I'm not that type of person," he stressed.
