SM Lee Hsien Loong Looked Like He Was Having Just As Much Fun As The Kids At Science Centre Singapore
If there's one thing we've learnt since Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong stepped down as Singapore's Prime Minister, it's this: retirement doesn't necessarily mean slowing down.
Especially when you're a grandfather.
A netizen recently shared a video after spotting the 74-year-old spending time with a little girl, believed to be one of his grandchildren, at the Science Centre Singapore.
According to the netizen, he initially hesitated to take out his phone. But after noticing that SM Lee's security officers did not object, he quietly started recording.
"When he turned around and saw us filming, he gave us a friendly wave," he shared.
In another clip, a different netizen made a very Singaporean observation.
"He may still be a Senior Minister, but like every grandfather, he's babysitting his grandchild," they joked.
Many commenters said SM Lee looked like he was enjoying the outing just as much as the children.
Some even quipped that he seemed more fascinated by the exhibits than his grandchild.
"The gold standard. You see him bringing his grandchildren all over Singapore during weekends,” one comment read.
Others said the videos reflected something uniquely Singaporean.
"Singapore is super safe," one netizen wrote, pointing to how SM Lee could spend a quiet afternoon with his grandchild at a public attraction while members of the public casually recognised him.
The videos also reminded some parents of a classic family outing.
"Almost forgot that i could bring my little ones to the Science Centre," one commenter wrote.
If the visit feels familiar, that's because it isn't the first time Singaporeans have spotted SM Lee enjoying quality time with his grandchildren.
One commenter even claimed to have seen him at the Science Centre about six months ago.
Over the past year, members of the public have also shared sightings of him at Great World City, the Kampong Glam Bazaar and Rainforest Wild Asia.
Safe to say, grandfatherhood seems to be keeping the former Prime Minister pretty busy.
And judging by the smiles in the videos, he doesn't appear to mind one bit.
