S'porean Content Creator Dewy Choo Says AI Version Of Her Was Used In TikTok Ads Without Permission
Besides the surprise of having an AI clone that she didn't give approve of, Dewy Choo was left scratching her head when she noticed that her AI clone was flashing a huge wedding ring in the video.
Imagine scrolling through TikTok and stumbling upon a video of yourself. Only it's not actually you, but an AI version of you that you didn't know about.
That's exactly what happened to local influencer Dewy Choo, who recently revealed that AI-generated versions of herself have been appearing in TikTok videos promoting products without her consent.
The videos, posted by TikTok account @discountdeal, show an AI-generated Dewy endorsing products such as clip-on false eyelashes.
While the unauthorised use of her likeness was understandably concerning, there was one detail that completely threw her off.
"But the thing that's confusing me is... why is AI me married?" she joked in a video.
"And why haven't you proposed to me? Even my AI clone has a ring,” she asked her partner, content creator Jay (Sneaky Sushii), who was sitting next to her.
She then cheekily asked: "Did you propose to my AI clone instead?"
Jokes aside, Dewy made it clear that the AI videos were made without her permission.
"I did not consent to this," she declared, urging her followers to report the TikTok account, which has over 1,000 followers.
Netizens admitted they were just as startled, with some saying the AI-generated Dewy was convincing enough to fool them at first glance.
"It even sounded like you, just lower pitched," one said.
