Singapore Airlines (SIA) is hailed for its impeccable service, but it looks like our national carrier has outdone itself again.

Recently, local content creator Audrey Yap (better known by her online moniker Audz Your Lobang Sis) took to Instagram to commend the airline for its help after her mother's sudden passing in Vietnam two months ago.

Back in February, Audrey was holidaying in Da Nang with her mother when the latter suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away.

"I will not forget this experience with Singapore Airlines. I don't take this lightly, and I am happy to tell the world about it," she wrote in her caption.

In her carousel post, Audrey shared that she had Singapore Airlines Suites first class flight booked for her late mum for a Shanghai flight. The flight, which she booked with her KrisFlyer Miles, was booked nearly 10 months in advance for June 2026.

In the months after her mum's passing, Audrey reached out to SIA to cancel the flight.

"I don't care about the money. What I care [about] is [the] hassle free process and easy refund during my time of overwhelming grief. This was done easily via their call centre and email exchanges," she explained.

However, after the refund was approved, not all the miles could be reinstated as some of them had expired in her mum's SIA account. Audrey then submitted a separate request to have those expired miles reinstated.

Reinstating miles typically means allowing the miles to be temporarily restored for use, transferred to a family member or  converted into usable rewards.

A photo she shared showed a total of 9,094 KrisFlyer Miles being reinstated ultimately, which according to Audrey, is worth S$113.

"Even though they didn't have to reinstate the miles, they did. This S$113 worth of miles is so inconsequential as compared to the amount of flights I will buy in my lifetime," she wrote.

"And trust me, I will pick Singapore Airlines moving forward, even if it's more expensive."

This experience left Audrey feeling "so proud" to be a Singaporean. "I love my national carrier," she gushed.

Audrey also applauded the airline as one that "carries compassion and heart" in their policies.

"For S$113, you won a loyal customer 'cos in the lowest moment of my life, in my time of need, you were willing to put in an exception," she added. "People over Policy. Now, take my money, Singapore Airlines."
