Fans Fail To Recognise Chinese Actor Xiao Zhan Even As He Queues Up With Them To Take A Picture With His Own Ad

It seems a couple of people might be berating themselves after realising they were probably standing next to one of Asia's biggest idols a few days ago.

In a video posted on Saturday (Jan 6), popular Chinese actor Xiao Zhan, 32, is seen strolling the streets of Shanghai before stopping in front of a campaign ad he did for Gucci.

Dressed in black and donning a mask, the star patiently queued with fans for his turn to… take a snapshot of his himself.

“Taking a picture at night. If you have to line up, you have to line up,” wrote the actor on his Weibo.

Xiao Zhan can even be heard chuckling as he observed people engrossed in taking pictures of the ad, with no one realising he was standing meters away from them.

Even after taking his shot in front of the poster, Xiao Zhan kept his anonymity well.

We understand Xiao Zhan had a mask on and was without his usual entourage, but was it that hard to recognise the actor?

Especially with someone filming him the entire time.

The video quickly garnered a tsunami of comments with many lamenting the lost opportunity for a proper picture with Xiao Zhan.

“The furthest distance between fans and their idols is when you don’t recognise them standing next to you,” one netizen wrote.

However, it seems one of the fans in the video came out to clarify that they did know Xiao Zhan was standing near them but wanted to give him some space instead of bothering the actor for a picture.

How… polite.
