Official Photo Of Taiwan’s Ambassador To Marshall Islands Sparks “AI-Generated” Jokes Because He Looks Nothing Like That In Real Life
Did netizens get catfished by an ambassador’s official picture?
They always say you shouldn’t trust every handsome face you see on a dating app.
Well, the same rule should apply to diplomats too.
When Taiwan’s embassy posted the official photo of newly appointed Ambassador Hsu Wei-min to the Marshall Islands, it got the internet swooning.
“He’s so handsome! Daddy, hello!” wrote an excited netizen, while another admired his “beautiful eyes.”
Others were in disbelief, questioning if AI had anything to do with this glow-up.
Well, as it turns out, AI wasn’t just working; it was working overtime.
Other photos of Wei-min that we found looked entirely different from the ambassador's flawlessly airbrushed official portrait. Is this the diplomatic version of getting catfished?
However, some netizens weren’t bothered by the obvious difference.
“Taiwanese news already showed clips from events, and he definitely looks older, and not as touched up. At least he still looks very handsome and has most of his hair,” a netizen commented.
Wei-min previously served as the Deputy Director-General of the Department of European Affairs at Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).
