Straight Taiwanese Baseball Star Proposes To Married Teammate During A Game

Taiwanese baseball fans were given a little side entertainment at the Taipei Dome during the 36th CPBL All-Star Game last weekend (July 19).

During a pitching change, Team Taiwan pitcher Kuo Chun Lin, 33, pulled a ring out of his glove and got down on one knee, proposing to teammate Chen Kuan Yu, 34.

The latter was then seen playing along, responding with a bashful grin, and slipped it on his ring finger.

The pair then shared a hug and posed for pictures as the crowd cheered them on, even chanting, “Kiss him!”.

The commentator even highlighted that their team’s pitching coach Chien Ming Wang, joining in the fun, filming the whole thing like a proud dad.

Does he know something we don't?

Now, before some of you conservative folks start clutching at your pearls, it was all done in good fun.

Chun Lin and Kuan Yu are both straight, and have been tight since their pro days in Japan.

Also, the latter has been married since 2016, and has a son and a daughter.

Dubbed the “CPL Couple”, this isn’t the first time the BFFs have pulled such a stunt.

They pulled a similar stunt at Tokyo Disneyland after winning the Premier12 championship last year.

Maybe they saw the act as a good luck charm and decided to reenact it again.

At the time of the "proposal", the game was tied 1-1.

This year, they even wore matching custom gloves embroidered with a “Dice 6,” a lucky symbol when they played in the Premier 12 League in 2019.

Will this be the inspiration for a baseball rom-com in the future?

While most were tickled at the fun act, at least one netizen was miffed at the affectionate display.

"Are they making a joke out of marriage?" read an angry comment.

Geez... you must be really fun at parties.
