iPhone 17 Inspires Romantic Proposal That’s Now Gone Viral in China
It has the perfect wordplay on his girlfriend's name.

A young man from Beijing, China, has gone viral online for coming up with one of the most practical proposals we’ve seen in a while.
And it’s all thanks to the launch of the new iPhone.
The man managed to snag an iPhone 17 on September 19, the day of its release. He brought his girlfriend to the park the same day and proposed to her with a huge bouquet of flowers and a ring.
While still on one knee, he pulled out a surprise gift — the brand-new iPhone he had bought earlier.
There was, however, a very good reason for including the smartphone in his proposal.
In Mandarin pinyin, iPhone 17 is pronounced “Ai Feng Shi Qi” — a perfect wordplay on his girlfriend’s name, Feng Shiqi.
The word “ai” in Mandarin also means “love,” making the gesture all the more meaningful.
“This is an iPhone 17. I swear to always love Feng Shiqi! (ai Feng Shiqi)” the man proclaimed loudly with a grin on his face.
According to Chinese media, the man spent months planning the proposal, sharing that he came up with the idea “early in the year.”
“I was waiting for the launch of the iPhone 17 so I could use it to propose. I couldn’t wait any longer, so I bought it online immediately and had it delivered in time for the big day,” he said.
No surprises here: his girlfriend said “yes.”
