Korean Actress Lee Young Ae, 52, To Play Dae Jang Geum Again In Jewel In The Palace Sequel
We started humming the unforgettable theme song when we heard the news.

It is finally happening.
2003 K-drama series Jewel in the Palace, which caused scores of Singaporean women jetting to South Korea to wear hanboks for pictures at Gyeongbokgung Palace, is getting a sequel.
According to a Korean media report on Tuesday (Jan 30), South Korean actress Lee Young Ae, 52, will reprise her role as royal chef-turned-physician Seo Jang Guem.
The drama made Young Ae, then 32, one of Korea's most famous actresses.
The working title for the sequel is Medic Dae Jang Geum and is set to pick up from where the original series left off.
Viewers last saw Seo Jang Guem happily married to royal military guard, Min Jeong Ho, who is played by Korean actor Ji Jin Hee.

A spokesperson also gave a timeline on when fans can hope to catch the first episode.
āWe plan to start filming in October and air in early 2025,ā said the rep.
Rumours of a sequel have swirled since 2012 and we are sure fans of the original series wouldn't mind waiting just a little more.
Jewel in the Palace is loosely based on the life of the first female royal physician in Korean history. It ran for 54 episodes and is the 10th highest-rated Korean drama of all time.
