Bruno Mars Sings & Flirts In Perfect Mandarin At Taiwan Concert
The 38-year-old crooning in Mandarin just hits differently.
While Singapore had one of Bruno Mars’s keyboardists play ‘Home’ during the first of his three concerts here in April, the American singer's gig in Taiwan had a sultrier surprise.
While singing ‘Calling All My Lovelies’ from 2016’s 24K Magic, Bruno dramatically picked up a gold-coloured '80s-style handphone and spontaneously switched out the English word ‘baby’ to the Mandarin ‘baobei’.
Of course the 55,000-strong crowd at Kaoshiung National Stadium went berserk.
His pronunciation also seemed quite spot on and for a moment he sounded like he could actually speak Mandarin.
Now, why didn’t Singapore get the same experience when he was here in April?
That wasn’t the only time Bruno showed off his Mandarin-speaking skills.
During the performance of his mega hit ‘Marry You’, he shouted in Mandarin, “Taiwan, I want to marry you!”.
Bruno even thanked the crowd in Mandarin saying “You are all so beautiful” — a play on some of his lyrics from ‘Just The Way You Are’ — and that he wanted everyone to “swing and enjoy yourselves”.
His fans were impressed by Bruno and quickly took to the Internet to post videos from the concert.
Netizens gushed in the comments about how they felt so special each time he called them ‘baby’ in Mandarin.
One comment read: "Is this how it feels like if I become Bruno's girlfriend?"
