Taiwanese Singer Landy Wen's Friend Claims She Ate Only 3 Apples In 2 Days Before Septic Shock Landed Her In ICU
Landy Wen's condition was so critical that medical staff struggled to locate a vein due to severe dehydration and dangerously low blood pressure, which is said to have dropped to just over 30.
Taiwanese singer Landy Wen is counting her blessings after surviving a serious health scare that left her in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for 10 days after suffering septic shock.
The 46-year-old was rushed to hospital on May 14 after experiencing severe abdominal pain and was later admitted to the ICU for emergency treatment.
On May 25, her manager revealed on Landy’s Instagram that she had developed sepsis caused by stones.
The manager also shared that Landy had been transferred to a general ward after her condition stabilised and that she was aiming to be discharged within a week.
She is expected to return to work in September, while her postponed concerts in Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu are tentatively being rescheduled for December.
In a recent interview with Taiwan's Liberty Times, Landy opened up about the ordeal, saying she felt she had ultimately been defeated by herself after her condition deteriorated to the point where she was fighting for her life.
She revealed that she had a habit of brushing off health issues whenever she felt unwell, believing they were minor problems that could be managed with over-the-counter medication.
She said she often chose to endure the discomfort instead of seeking medical attention, and never imagined it would lead to such a serious health crisis.
Landy hopes to write about her hospitalisation experience after she is discharged and use it as a reminder to others not to ignore warning signs from their bodies.
According to Liberty Times, Landy’s sepsis was caused by kidney stones.
The singer also expressed gratitude to fans, friends and well-wishers who supported her throughout her hospitalisation, adding that she hopes to share more about her experience after recovering.
Meanwhile, Landy’s close friend, singer Wu Yifan, who helped rushed her to the hospital, recently shed more light on the ordeal.
Speaking to TVBS, Yifan said she noticed something was off when she and Landy happened to be on the same flight for work.
Concerned, she later contacted Landy's boyfriend and suggested he check on her. Not long after, he called back asking for help, saying Landy had become so weak that he could barely move her.
When Yifan arrived at Landy's home, she found the singer in severe pain, extremely weak and suffering from serious dehydration, and immediately took her to the emergency room.
According to Yifan, doctors later told them that Landy's vital signs were critically low and warned that had she arrived any later, the outcome could have been far worse.
The severity of her condition was further underscored by the fact that medical staff reportedly struggled to locate a vein due to severe dehydration and extremely low blood pressure.
According to Taiwanese reports, her blood pressure had dropped to just over 30, and medical staff eventually had to administer treatment through a vein in her neck.
Yifan also suggested that Landy’s strict dieting habits in preparation for upcoming concerts may have contributed to her weakened condition.
Yifan claimed Landy had consumed only three apples over two days and avoided drinking water out of concern about bloating before she fell ill.
