Barbie Hsu’s 12-Yr-Old Daughter Joins Instagram, Follows Late Mum’s Account
It’s been over a year since Barbie Hsu’s passing, but little moments like this show just how much she’s still missed, especially by those closest to her.
Ahead of Mother’s Day, netizens noticed that the late Taiwanese actress’ 12-year-old daughter, Wang Hsi-Yueh, has her own Instagram account.
Barbie shared Hsi-Yueh and 10-year-old son Hsi-Lin with ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei. The pair divorced in 2022 after 10 years of marriage, and Barbie went on to marry South Korean rapper DJ Koo that same year. The kids are now under Xiaofei’s care.
At first glance, Hsi-Yueh’s IG is as low-key as it gets — just two posts, no selfies, no personal info.
But it’s the subtle details that got people talking.
Her following list is small — just 18 accounts — and almost entirely made up of the Hsu family.
She follows her late mum Barbie’s official account (which is no longer active), her aunt Dee Hsu, grandma Huang Chunmei, and her three cousins Elly, Lily and Alice. Dee and grandma have followed her back, which pretty much confirms the account is legit.
Noticeably absent? Her dad Wang Xiaofei, stepdad DJ Koo and stepmum Mandy Ma — something that quickly sparked chatter online.
Still, it’s the quiet gestures that hit harder.
Fans noticed that Hsi-Yueh had liked a photo of Barbie and DJ Koo looking happy and in love, a move that many felt spoke volumes.
Her posts add to the feels.
Her first was a video of a drone fireworks show at the New Taipei City Art Museum’s first anniversary. The second, Tyler The Creator’s ‘Are We Still Friends?’, a track many interpreted as quietly heartbreaking.
Then there’s her bio, which reads: “GUYS I ACCIDENTALLY SWALLOWED A CHEWING GUM HELP.”
Random and cheeky, with some fans saying they see glimpses of Barbie in that playful streak.
Barbie’s fans flooded the comments with love and encouragement, leaving messages like: “Your mum will always watch over you,” and “Grow up happy and strong, Yue’er. Your mum loves you — and so do we.”
