Gigi Leung Admits She Lied About Picking Her Nose 24 Years Ago To Protect Her Image
Celebrities have an image to upkeep, but how far would they go to maintain that “I’m-so-perfect” persona?
In a recent interview with Taiwanese influencer Nana Master, Gigi Leung was asked if she would “keep certain ugly behaviours” private and only do them at home.
Surprisingly, the 50-year-old Hong Kong singer was nothing but candid when asked two questions: “Do you dig your nose?” and “Would you scratch your feet really hard?”
“Of course I need to!” she exclaimed when asked about digging her nose. “My feet would be very itchy if I didn’t scratch them!”
What Gigi wasn’t expecting, however, was for Nana to dig up an interview from 24 years ago.
Back then, on a 2002 episode of Taiwanese variety show 100% Entertainment, Gigi was asked by hosts Barbie Hsu and Dee Hsu if she picks her nose at home.
“No, I won’t!” she immediately shot back.
Now, more than two decades later, the singer couldn’t help but laugh at her answer.
“Who doesn’t pick their nose?” she exclaimed. “I need to accept my own imperfections.”
So why did she say that? Gigi explained that she was "too young" at the time and was afraid of tarnishing her image.
“The people from my management agency would look at me and be like: ‘You’re a demure young lady, Gigi Leung. How can you admit that you pick your nose?’”
“I was just really scared that I would say the wrong thing,” she said.
