Vietnamese Women Clean Ho Chi Minh Bust At S’pore River To Mark Vietnam's Reunification Day
Others soon turned up to also take pictures with the image of the former Vietnamese leader.

While most Singaporeans are familiar with the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles along the Singapore River, there are several other statues and busts of historical figures in the area too
In a 36-second TikTok video shared by Desmond Wong, his wife Tina and two of her friends were seen visiting the Ho Chi Minh Monument at Empress Place.
According to Desmond, they couldn’t return to Vietnam for Reunification Day (Apr 30) this year and chose to visit the monument to celebrate the occasion instead.
In 2025, the occasion marks 50 years since the end of the Vietnam War.
To commemorate the day, the women brought sunflowers adorned with Vietnam’s national flags to the monument.
One of them was also seen gently cleaning the bust of Vietnam’s former president, affectionately known as “Uncle Ho”.
Ho Chi Minh passed away in 1969, years before North Vietnam defeated US-backed South Vietnam and remains a unifying symbol of the nation.
Tina and her friends weren’t the only visitors that day and others soon arrived to take pictures with the bust, joining in the quiet tribute.
Erected in 2011, the Ho Chi Minh Monument is part of a series of busts in the area that honour notable figures such as China’s Deng Xiaoping, and Filipino national hero, Jose Rizal.
