Eleanor Lee Reflects On Setbacks, Says Being Compared To Mum Quan Yifeng Is A Compliment: “She Is A Strong Woman”

In recent years, Eleanor Lee has had her fair share of challenges in the public eye, from dealing with a controversy involving a former assistant and a fabricated audio clip that sparked backlash online, to her mother, host Quan Yifeng’s highly publicised fallout with former close pal Addy Lee.

Earlier this week, the 26-year-old China-based Singaporean actress took to Instagram to reflect on the ups and downs she has experienced, while sharing that she is using these setbacks as motivation to become stronger. 

She penned: “In just these past two years, I have seen so many people’s attitudes change, their true colours revealed, and their real selves exposed.”

“I’m grateful to everyone who left, everyone who stopped trusting me, disliked me, or refused to give me a chance. You’ve all become my motivation. But please, don’t ever appear in my life again. I will no longer welcome or entertain you," she continued. 

Eleanor went on to share that her journey reminded her of the time she graduated from primary school, when she chose to attend the ceremony alone and did not let her mum accompany her. She told her mum she would be home soon, but left just five minutes after arriving at the venue.

“At that moment, I made a promise to myself: I would definitely make something of myself,” she added. 

She shared that she was determined to prove those who had bullied her wrong, but just as she began making a name for herself, she faced new challenges. Eleanor believed that those waiting to see her fail had once again appeared, joining in just to watch the drama unfold.

She also shared a touching tribute to her mother, sharing that she sees comparisons between them as a compliment.

“[People] like to say that I’m just like my mother, that I’m a ‘bad apple’ just like her. But to me, I see that as a compliment. I am honoured to be like my mum, because she is a strong woman. Even after being hurt by so many people, she still remained strong, continued to live well, and kept loving the world,” she wrote.

Eleanor also shared a lesson her mum taught her — to pick herself back up from wherever she falls.

“I don’t need anyone’s comfort or assistance, because this is a path I must go through,” she added. 

Eleanor ended her post by thanking those who had continued to support her and stand by her side. She asked them to give her a little more time, saying that she would slowly find her way back and shine again like before. She also promised to keep working hard and make them proud.
