If you’ve ever been on a cruise, you’ll know one thing for certain: there is a lot of food. We're talking buffets galore

Which is why former Singapore Idol finalist Dwayne Tan was more than a little puzzled when he heard that an influencer allegedly tried to bring a rice cooker onboard the new Disney Adventure cruise during the media preview sailing.

“Did they not get the memo that there’s going to be food 24/7?” said the actor-presenter in a TikTok video. “I mean there’s definitely plenty of rice. The menu caters to Asians. What recipe do you need to do that you will need a rice cooker?”

He added that bringing such an appliance onboard is also a fire hazard, which is why cruise lines typically ban them in the first place.

For the record, appliances like rice cookers and air fryers are typically listed among prohibited items on cruise ships for safety reasons.

"Come on, don’t be embarrassing lah. This is Singapore and Disney collaborating on such a big thing, and the Disney fans are saying these are the kinds of worst examples of behaviour on a cruise ship that they have seen thus far, okay. So, I’m really embarrassed as a big Disney fan and Singaporean. Rice cooker? Come on!” Dwayne ranted.

Guess for this influencer, the quote “rice is life” was taken a little too literally.

When 8days.sg reached out to Dwayne, he told us he first got wind of it when he heard a Class 95 listener mention it to him that The Muttons saw it happening during a media preview last week.

“Basically, the influencer was stopped at customs and the item. Of course was removed,” said Dwayne, who is also a part-time Class 95 DJ.

Dwayne, a self-professed huge Disney fan, is planning on going on the Disney Adventure cruise himself before May.

What if he happens to run into someone attempting to bring, say, a rice cooker onboard?

“Well, I’d be super nice with a touch of Disney magic. And also refer them to [my] socials for tips, of course,” he quipped.

Following the viral clip, Dwayne also posted another lighthearted TikTok outlining some do's and don’ts for passengers boarding the Disney-themed cruise.

These include not pasting stickers on cabin doors, and definitely don’t bring rice cookers or air fryers.

The Disney Adventure, operated by Disney Cruise Line, set sail on its maiden voyage from Singapore on March 10. The ship is expected to operate from Singapore until at least early 2031.
