A bizarre new trend dubbed the “pimple piercing,” aka a nose stud fashioned to look like a real zit, is making us wonder if people have collectively decided they’re done hiding their breakouts. 

The hyper-realistic accessory is designed to look like a swollen, pus-filled zit that is probably seconds away from bursting. 

Think angry red raised bump, and that unmistakable yellow “head”.

And if you are willing to pay for a massive 'zit', this piece of, er, jewellery will set you back by about S$47.

It is currently listed on novelty retailer Geek Want, though it appears to be sold out. 

Wait, there is actual demand for it?

Netizens had mixed reactions.

Many were horrified, with one writing: “I can’t help but feel like I will puke if I stare at it for longer.”

Another had a slightly different physical response: “My hands feel so itchy just looking at it, I really want to squeeze it!”

Beyond the shock factor, some felt the pimple piercing might actually be — wait for it — helpful?

“If you don’t want to explain to your older relatives, this would be perfect. No one would be asking about the zit on your face,” another netizen opined.

Another seemed excited to get it, writing: “If your employer doesn’t allow you to wear piercings, this would be perfect. You can’t discriminate against blemishes.”
