Ex-Miss HK Reveals Her Grandma's Home Among Those Affected By Tai Po Fire: “Such A Devastating Day”

Other Hong Kong celebrities have also expressed their support for the victims of the fire, one of the deadliest blazes in Hong Kong history.

It was a catastrophic day for Hong Kong yesterday (Nov 26) after a massive fire broke out in the public housing apartments of the Wang Fuk Court estate in the Tai Po District. 

At press time, the blaze has claimed 55 lives, including a firefighter's, and more than 270 people remain unaccounted for. Over 900 people were evacuated.

Miss Hong Kong 2020 Lisa-Marie Tse revealed that her grandmother's home is among those affected by the ferocius blaze, which has been classified as a top-level No. 5 fire.

"I spent the day watching my grandmother's home burning right in front of my eyes. Such a devastating day," Lisa-Marie, 30, shared on Instagram.

"My heart and prayers go out to those who lost their lives, those who have been injured and everyone who lost their home today," she wrote.

Meanwhile, other Hong Kong celebs have also expressed their support for the victims of the fire.

Singer Elanne Kong and her husband’s restaurant had since operated overnight to provide free food and drinks to residents affected by the fire.

Asia Television (ATV), which also has offices in Tai Po, announced: “We can open the 2nd and 4th floors of the building as temporary shelters for fire victims. We estimate that the space can accommodate around 150–200 people."

They added that organisations in need may contact them directly.

Many, including celebrity couple Shiga Lin and Carlos Chan as well as singer Jace Chan, have also postponed or cancelled their jobs and events in light of the tragedy. 

TVB also brought its news segment forward and cancelled Liza Wang’s travel reality show for the night.
