M’sian Singer Firdhaus Splurges On Porsche With 6-Figure Royalties From Hit ‘Divorce In Ghana’

Looks like Malaysian singer-songwriter Firdhaus’ cheating scandal did little to derail his career.
In 2024, Firdhaus parted ways with his girlfriend of four years, fellow singer Diorlying Tan, after he allegedly cheated on her.
The controversy cost him over 25,000 Instagram followers. But the setback now seems like to be just a minor blip.
At the launch of his second album 619 in Taipei this week, Firdhaus, 26, revealed that his 2023 hit duet with Diorlying, 'Divorce In Ghana', has racked up nearly 45 million YouTube views and inspired numerous covers.
When asked about royalties, Firdhaus first quipped: “About 10 million Indonesian Rupiah (S$780).”
His manager then clarified the actual figure was in the six-figure range.
To celebrate, Firdhaus rewarded himself with a Porsche, complete with a license plate featuring his favourite number “69”.
The number, which he associates with yin-yang and balance, also inspired the album title.
Despite the success, Firdhaus admitted he has struggled with his mental health in recent years.
“These past few years I’ve faced different challenges in the music industry and I've used different approaches and mindsets to deal with them. My mood has definitely been affected, but I’m someone who can adjust,” he said.
While he did not specify the cause of his unhappiness, he noted that things are improving: “I no longer have those negative thoughts at night. I’m thankful it’s gone from once a week to now only once a month. I’m less prone to feeling down,” he shared.
Asked if reconciliation with Diorlying was on the cards, he replied that he is single but still friends with her.
Johor-born Firdhaus, who will be performing at Mediacorp's Yes 933 Hits Fest on Sep 28, is widely seen as one of Malaysia’s most promising talents in the Chinese music scene.
Raised in a Malay household but educated in Chinese schools since pre-school, he is fluent in Mandarin.
His breakthrough came in 2020, when his single ‘Gulf Of Alaska’ went viral on Douyin. The success of 'Divorce In Ghana' in 2023 further boosted his popularity.
Catch Firdhaus at the Yes 933 Hits Fest 2025 on Sep 28 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Tickets available via Ticketmaster from 10am on Aug 20 (Wednesday).
