You Deserve Pancakes With A Giant Pile Of Whipped Cream This Weekend

Kalua pork is a popular Hawaiian dish — organic pork collar that’s marinated in pork fat, wrapped in banana leaves and slow-roasted till fork tender. It’s usually eaten with cabbage on the side, but here the organic pork is stir-fried with cabbage and mixed spices. Homey and tasty with the accompanying rice, a side of Caesar salad and two runny yolked fried eggs. You can also opt to have your eggs done other ways, like scrambled or over easy.

There are eight types of omelettes here with fixed fillings, like this spinach version. If you’re ordering a cheese omelette, you get to pick from three types of cheeses including cheddar, mozzarella and pepper jack. We pick the mildly spicy, melty pepper jack to jazz up the fatty bacon and fresh spinach nestling within the (sadly slightly bland) omelette’s fluffy folds. It’s served with some just-as-bland roasted potatoes. We’d order this again — but only if it were more generously salted.

This filling Hawaiian lunch staple combines Japanese rice, salad, sunny side up eggs and a beef hamburger patty drenched in a tasty brown gravy. Solid comfort food­ — pity our patty was too gristly.
