Homegrown karaoke chain Teo Heng KTV has been struggling to stay afloat since it was forced to close after the Covid-19 outbreak last year. Its founder Jackson Teo, who started the chain 31 years ago, told 8days.sg that the closure had cost him over S$2 million.

Plans to reopen under a pilot programme this year were also scuppered by a spate of new community infection cases. In January, Mothership reported that Teo Heng was closing all its outlets and exiting the industry. In a later update, Teo Heng announced that it was not closing down after all.
