Pre-Orders For SIA Mahjong Tiles Are Now Closed. But People Are Re-Selling Them On Carousell At Up To $1,300 Per Set

Mahjong fans got into a major tizzy in December when Singapore Airlines launched limited edition mahjong tiles at $338 a pop.

Once word got out, the first round of pre-orders were sold out within hours on KrisShop. They eventually started taking pre-orders again, and this carried on up until last month, though delivery of the tiles would only be in July this year.

However, all pre-orders have now closed. A KrisShop rep tells 8Days.sg that pre-orders for the limited edition mahjong set have ended, and they will not be opening up for any further orders.

They’re not ordinary tiles, okay? The
SIA mahjong set features the airline’s iconic batik motif on the tiles, along with flight-related elements on the tiles (see more pics here).

If you’re still hoping to get your paws on an SIA mahjong set, just look to Carousell… as long as you’re willing to fork out more than the original price of $338. Enterprising Carousellers have been reselling the tiles, with the most expensive one priced at $1,300.

The cheapest? $398, just $60 more than the original retail price. However, a set going for that, er, cheap is rarer than ‘shi san yao’, so you better act quick. Most listings hover in the $500 to $800 price range.
While most are ready stocks, some Carousellers are already selling their sets that they will only receive in July. Talk about planning ahead.
