Japanese lifestyle store Daiso is popular for one main reason: Everything there is a flat $2 (unless you’re talking about its premium concept, Threepy). Now here comes the shocker. From May 1, 2022, Daiso Singapore will start charging GST for its goods.
This means that Daiso’s products are no longer available at the amazing price of $2.

What’s going on
Eagle-eyed netizen Ava P Burgh posted on Facebook fanpage Daiso and Threeppy “price change notice” sign pasted at a Daiso outlet.
The sign informed customers that “we always strive to keep our products as affordable as possible. To continue improving the quality of our products, there will be a price change. All prices will be exclusive of GST from 1st May 2022.”

How much you will soon be paying at Daiso
While Daiso did not explicitly state its new pricing, we break down the math for you.
2022 pricing: At the current GST rate of 7%, you will have to pay $2.14 for each Daiso product from May 1, 2022 till Dec 31, 2022.
2023 pricing: $2.16 (GST rate will be increased to 8% on Jan 1, 2023)
2024 pricing: $2.18 (GST rate will be increased to 9% on Jan 1, 2024)
We assume the GST charge also applies for purchases from Daiso’s online store and Threeppy. In other news, the soon-to-be $2.14 chain will open a new outlet at Jurong Point, taking over department store BHG's defunct outlet.
