Two years after hanging up his fangs as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries (which ran for eight seasons), Ian Somerhalder is back in the trenches with the bloodsuckers. Except this time, he isn’t a vampire.
Netflix has premiered the trailer for V Wars, where he stars as a disease specialist whose best friend (Skyscraper’s Adrian Holmes) is infected by a vampiric virus that’s spreading around the world.
Based on Jonathan Maberry’s best-selling books, V Wars also stars Laura Vandervoort (Supergirl). Somerhalder is also the EP and director of one of the series’ first 10-episode season.
Judging from the trailer, it looks and feels like a typical CW show (think Containment, that short-lived outbreak drama starring George Young, but with vampires), one that’s been axed after three episodes and later resurrected by its fervent fanbase on Netflix.
You know that feeling?
V-Wars premieres Dec 5 on Netflix.
