Bravo to the linguistic Easter egg in Star Trek: Discovery. In a geeky, gimmicky move, the producers of the latest Star Trek spin-off — featuring Michelle Yeoh (rock on!) as the first Asian female captain in the franchise’s 50-plus year history, and Anthony Rapp, the actor who accused Kevin Spacey of hitting on him in 1986 when he was 14, as the first openly gay Star Trek character — have hidden an Easter egg in the subtitles option page.
Besides English and Simplified and Traditional Chinese, you can also choose — wait for it — Klingon. Yes, Klingon, the totally made-up language of the combative alien race. Now, how cool is that? Or, as they would say in Klingon, chay’ cool ‘oH Dochvam’e’?
