Now let that be a lesson for the rest of us: don't read and walk down the stairs at the same time.

Rose McGowan Broke Her Arm "While Reading The US Election Results" On The Stairs

Rose McGowan has broken her arm after falling down the stairs while reading up on the results of the US election.

The 47-year-old actress took to Instagram on Thursday (Nov 5) to reveal she has been hospitalised for a broken bone in her arm, after she took a tumble on the stairs when she was too preoccupied with the latest results from the ongoing presidential election to look where she was walking.

Rose posted a picture of herself in hospital on the social media site, where she also took the time to hit out at the lofty cost of an emergency room visit in California, as she called America the “land of the overcharged”.

She wrote: “Reading US election results while on the stairs = bone break. It cost $250 in Mexico for my emergency room visit, compared to a likely 10k hospital bill in California for the same accident. USA is not the land of the free, it’s the land of the overcharged. #bigpharma #usa #mexico OUCH (sic)”

The current election has been a close contest, and although voting closed on Tuesday (Nov 3), several states are still yet to confirm a clear winner between Republican — and current president — Donald Trump, and Democrat candidate Joe Biden.

For Rose, her desire for updates on the election comes as she accused Trump of “brainwashing” people earlier this year, when she hit out against the "cult of American masculinity".

The Charmed star said: "American masculinity is really toxic and really dangerous. It's dangerous to the world.

"This idea that America is number one and each man there is number one and superior – that's a load of b******* everybody knows it.

"But they continue with this mass conformity and cult-like way of thinking. This cult-like way of thinking is exactly like the cult I grew up in. There's no difference.

"It's just on a bigger scale. Especially now with Trump, he repeats the same things — that's brainwashing. He instills fear of others in people — that's brainwashing.

"When you cross stupidity with fear, that's a really dangerous mix. I found it really dangerous and hard to adjust to. I don't think I ever did." — BANG
