Naomi Campbell has become a mother.

The 50-year-old supermodel has confirmed she has welcomed a baby into the world, as she gushed about the "beautiful little blessing" and "gentle soul" in her life.

Taking to Instagram, she shared: "A beautiful little blessing has chosen me to be her mother.

"So honoured to have this gentle soul in my life there are no words to describe the lifelong bond that I now share with you my angel. There is no greater love. (sic)"

It's the first child for Naomi who made no public acknowledgement that she was expecting a baby. The announcement arrives a few days before her own birthday (May 22).

Naomi's mother, Valerie Morris Campbell, shared the same photo, with a message: "I'm beyonnd thrilled as I've waited a longtime to be a grandmother (sic)".

Designer Marc Jacobs, who's worked with Naomi since 1994, also sent his congratulations.

“Oh my God!!!!! Today is the day??," he posted. "How absolutely incredible. How lucky she is and how lucky you are! What a wonderful Mother you will be. Blessings all around.”

British Vogue Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful wrote: “Seeing the two of you together made my year. You will bring each other so much joy.”

At press time, no details of the birth or the baby's name were given. In a 2017 interview with the Evening Standard, Naomi spoke about wanting to be a mother. She said, "I think about having children all the time...But now with the way science is I think I can do it when I want."

Meanwhile, Naomi previously insisted 2021 will be "an amazing year". Whilst she acknowledged there are "a few more bumps to get through" amid the coronavirus pandemic, she admitted she was confident things will be great again by the end of the year.

In an interview with i-D Interview in February, Naomi said: "At the end of 2020, my main reflections were on the need for us to move upward and forward. We have to rise to every challenge and walk through it. And we will get through it. 2021 is going to be a great year, we’ve just got a few more bumps to get through first. Nothing disappears overnight, but we just need to get through this first quarter. After that, I believe that this is going to be an amazing year. Actually, I don’t just believe it will be; I feel it will be."— BANG SHOWBIZ
