You may have seen homegrown singer-songwriter Inch Chua performing with her band on stage, and now there’s a chance that you’ll be able to see her cooking up a storm on the second season of MasterChef Singapore. The 31-year-old auditioned for the cooking competition earlier this month and the 24 contestants will be revealed when the show airs February next year on Channel 5.
Though the self-professed foodie and MasterChef fan has always been passionate about cooking, it was never her desire to take part in the cooking competition. But like many in the performing arts community, Inch, who was supposed to be on a Europe tour for her theatrical performance Til The End Of The World, We'll Meet In No Man's Land in the third quarter of this year, found herself with gigs and performances cancelled due to the pandemic, so she decided challenge herself and put her culinary skills to the test.
“It just seems like the right time to join ‘cos I do have spare time and I do want to take up the challenge,” she tells 8days.sg in a phone interview. She submitted her application about a month ago and survived the “frazzling“ audition, where she whipped up an otah floss hors d'oeuvre made with stingray, batang fish and sotong.
