Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez are to perform at the inauguration ceremony for incoming US President Joe Biden.
Inauguration officials shared the news on Thursday (Jan 14) that Lady Gaga will sing the national anthem at the ceremony on Jan 20. Lopez will give a separate musical performance.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will be sworn in on the West Front of the US Capitol.

Gaga responded to the news by tweeting a photo of her wearing a shirt emblazoned with the word “JOE” inside a heart. She also wrote, “I am deeply honored to be joining @BidenInaugural on January 20 to sing the National Anthem and celebrate the historic inauguration of @JoeBiden and @KamalaHarris! 💙"

Lopez, too, took to Twitter to celebrate the news, sharing a photo of herself with the announcement alongside red, white and blue heart emojis and the hashtag, “#Inauguration2021.”

Besides the swearing-in ceremony, there’s also a virtual parade scheduled on Jan 20. After the ceremony, Tom Hanks will host Celebrating America, a 90-minute, primetime TV special celebrating Biden’s inauguration. Other performers include Justin Timberlake, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato and Ant Clemons.
Gaga — who campaigned for Biden last year and teamed up with the incoming POTUS in 2017 during his ‘Its on Us’ drive to combat campus sexual assault — is no stranger to the national anthem having performed it at the opening of Super Bowl 50 in 2016. Check it out here:
