Gwyneth Paltrow Says She Would Take On More Acting Roles On One Condition

The 48-year-old Oscar winner took a break from Hollywood in 2007 to launch her Goop lifestyle brand.

These days, Gwyneth Paltrow is known more as an entrepreneur — as the founder and CEO of the lifestyle empire Goop — than as an actress. I

In 2016, she announced that she was sorta kinda done with acting because she wanted to pay more attention on Goop. If she would ever return to the front of the camera, she needs a really, really compelling reason.

Speaking to Naomi Campbell on her YouTube talk show No Filter with Naomi, the 48-year-old Oscar winner revealed what would incentivize her to act again.

“I would have to be f***ing a writer," the mother of two joked. And that lucky scribe happens to be her Emmy-nominated writer-producer Brad Falchuk.

“But that's sort of it. If my husband writes something and wants me to do it, I'll do it. But right now — I can never say never.”

Paltrow’s last major appearance was on Netflix’s The Politician series, which was co-created, written and produced by — wait for it — Falchuk.

In a SiriusXM interview last year, Paltrow admitted that “she doesn’t love acting that much” and that the shine of it wore after she won the Best Actress Oscar for Shakespeare in Love in 1999.

She said then, “I think that when you hit the bullseye when you’re 26 years old and you’re a metrics-driven person who frankly doesn’t love acting that much, as it turns out, I was kinda like, Okay. It wasn’t like I felt like this isn’t worth doing. I sort of felt like, well, now who am I supposed to be? What am I driving towards?”

But she hasn’t lost interest in acting entirely. If she does act again, it would be on stage.

“I’d like to go back on stage one day,” she said. “I really loved doing theater. There's something about theatre that's just exhilarating! It's really the actor's medium, right? You're on stage, you're in control of your performance.”
